JANGAN JADI MANGSA KEPADA AGEN PROVOKATOR! KUTUKAN

Press Statement for Immediate Release

Resist Retaliation! Condemn the Vile Attacks on Mosques

This latest attack on a place of worship, specifically at At-Tirmizi Mosque, Lembah Pantai, is yet another in the series of attempts to destroy the peace and harmony of our country by certain elements.

This vile act is meant to destroy our harmonious pluralism and our democracy. We must not let them succeed nor must we allow these cowardly actions to frighten us.
My visit coincided with that of the IGP and his leadership. I urge them to investigate this matter thoroughly and focus all their attention on combating such attacks rather than dissidents of the BN led government.

I also call upon the government to set up a Royal Commission of inquiry into such attacks. The carefully choreographed attacks are eerily similar and require an independent entity to ensure no political stone is left unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
No thinking Malaysian would attack a place of worship. No religion condones such violence and we hope that all men and women of goodwill shall condemn these recent sectarian provocations.

Members of the public who have information on these incidents have a moral responsibility to come forward. Our focus is to ensure peace and calm at all time. We remain undaunted in the face of such provocations. This episode will only bring us closer together –let us prove that the Malaysian spirit will triumph in the face of such tribulations. Our country is going through a difficult time, and this is all the more reason for us to draw closer together, rather than stand apart.

I will be joining the At-Tirmizi Mosque congregation tonight. The police have also given me their assurance that the OCPD of Brickfields will also be in attendance. This is the time to work together, not stand poles apart.
