Revenue, fell to RM845.790 million from RM857.105 million previously.
In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, the company said the drop in pre-tax profit was mainly due to the increase in Pool Betting Duty from 6 per cent to 8 per cent with effect from June 1 this year, coupled with a higher prize payout compared to the previous year’s corresponding quarter.
The decrease in revenue was mainly due to the current quarter having a lower number of draws as compared to the previous year corresponding quarter.
For the six-month period ended Oct 31, 2010, its pre-tax profit decreased to RM196.338 million from RM289.575 million in the same period of 2009.
Its revenue, fell to RM1.681 billion from RM1.683 billion previously.
“Barring unforeseen circumstances, the directors are optimistic that the group’s operating performance for the remaining quarters of the financial year ending April 30, 2011 will remain satisfactory,” it added. —
